Lombok Discovery Tour

Located just east of Bali, covering an area of 4,725 sq kms, Lombok is indeed as yet a largely undiscovered paradise. The natural landscape and the traditional way of life has remained unchanged for hundreds of years.

Whether you’re staying on the Gili islands or on Lombok itself we have a variety of full one day tours that will give you a true insight into the natural beauty and diverse culture of Lombok.

All our tours include pick up and drop off at your hotel by air conditioned car/mini bus, return boat if you are departing from the Gilis and an experienced English speaking guide. We also include entrance fees into national parks and temples where applicable and village donations. This way you have no hidden extras. The only thing we do not include is lunch as we find our guests prefer to make their own choices.

Our first port of call is a local morning market where you can soak up the sights and atmosphere of the indigineous Sasak people going about their daily life, perhaps picking up a bargain or two along the way!

Another hour or so drive along the quiet picturesque coastal roads bring you to the north of Lombok. Here we stop at Segentar traditional village where little has changed for generations and also a visit to Bayan to see the oldest mosque on Lombok. Set amidst stunning sloping rice paddies this area is where the original religion in Lombok first originated, Wektu Telu. It is still practised today and the locals still uphold animist beliefs and ceremonies are given to honour local spirits, give thanks for the harvest and to ensure rain.

Onwards to Senaru, a sleepy village nestled in the foothills of the mighty Rinjani volcano. An area of outstanding beauty, this is where we do our soft trekking to the highlight of our tour, the waterfalls. Descend the ancient stairway to the magnificent Sindang Gila waterfall, the water cascading down for a dizzying height of 50 metres. Then follow the track through the rain forest, over an antiquated bridge eventually coming to Tiu Kelep waterfall, a magical place where you can bathe in the pool below the falls.

Late afternoon we transfer you back to your hotel as the sun begins to set.

This trip is suitable for all ages who are reasonably fit. Not good for people who have a problem with steep steps.

This beautiful temple is the holiest place in lombok, built in 1759 for the king of the Balinese kingdom of Karangsem. Unique in the fact that three religions are practised in one complex : Hinduism, Islam and Wektu Telu. Famous for a sacred pool, home to a family of eels who can be lured out of their hiding places with hard-boiled eggs!

See the village women creating exquisite Songket fabrics on their traditional looms as they have done for generations.

Famous for its original clay pottery. See the villagers at work designing the pots using simple tools and methods.

Original thatched houses, mosques and the famous rice barns with their unique lumbung roofs.

Almost impossibly beautiful stretches of pristine white beaches and isolated bays, these are the beaches you have always dreamed of exploring.

*suitable for everybody
